Flaminio – Rome’s Cultural Hub

The Flaminio district in the north of Rome is the first roman residential area created outside the walls at the beginning of the city’s expansion over its ancient territory in 1911. Over the past 20 years it has become the most important cultural Hub of the city thanks to museums and multifunctional centers such as the Auditorium Parco della Musica and the MAXXI Museum.
Important milestones of the Italian architecture around the 1960s are also located in the area, like the Olympic village, the Flaminio Stadium and the Palazzetto dello Sport, both by Pier Luigi Nervi.

The tour starts with one of the most recent architectural interventions in Rome, the Ponte della Musica. This brigde connects the Flaminio district to the multisport complex from the 1920s on the opposite shore of the Tiber.
We visit the MAXXI Museum, a splendid example of adaptive reuse of heritage buildings bearing clearly Hadid’s handwriting. The tour ends at the Auditorum, Rome’s biggest music facility with three concert halls. It’s Europe’s most-visited music facility with over two million visitors in 2014.
