Contemporary Icons: Flavia Crisciotti (Thumbnail)
Flavia Crisciotti
Rome

Flavia’s life has unfolded between stunning examples of contemporary architecture in Rome and Munich. She spent her early childhood in Rome, in a 1930s residential block and grew up in the shadow of Mario Ridolfi’s rationalist post office, a daily reminder of architecture’s quiet beauty. Her architectural education took place between Richard Meier’s Ara Pacis Museum and Stephan Braunfels’ Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich.

Flavia holds a PhD in architectural history and museography, earned at the Technische Universität München. Today, she shares her passion for the built environment through curated walking tours that invite visitors to discover a Rome beyond the postcard.

Tour in Rome:
Contemporary Icons

This tour offers a fresh perspective on Rome, not as a static, postcard-perfect relic, but as a living, ever-changing metropolis. It uncovers a less-known narrative, where visionary architecture prompts deep questions about cultural identity, historical continuity, and the future of the Eternal City. The tour begins at the Ara Pacis Museum, where Richard Meier’s luminous architecture encloses an ancient Roman altar in glass and travertine. From there, it moves to Renzo Piano’s Auditorium Parco della Musica, where three concert halls in the shape of inverted mandolins emerge from an archaeological site, merging sound, space, and civic life. The tour ends at Zaha Hadid’s National Museum of 21st Century Arts (MAXXI), a dynamic and fluid space. Join us to explore the creative, political, and economic forces behind these contemporary gems.
