Tour in Glasgow:
Mackintosh and The Search for Order

In this tour we will focus on the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his contemporaries through their 'search for order' and a new language for architecture at the turn of the 20th Century. The walking route takes you through the 'grid iron' urban pattern of Glasgow city centre and we will also focus on story of the urban development.

We will visit a selection of contemporary buildings as well as 'Mackintosh at the Willow' and their Willow Tea Rooms by CR Mackintosh which has been expertly restored by Simpson Brown architects. We finish tour at Glasgow School of Art and discuss the approach to rebuilding Mackintosh's masterpiece after the fires in 2014 and 2018.
We will also visit the Reid Building by Steven Holl architects, in collaboration with local practice JM architects, which houses GSA's Design School.
