Córdoba was built as an inland Roman port on the Guadalquivir River, being for centuries the only crossing point along its course. It later became the capital of the Umayyad Caliphate and, by the year 1000 AD, the most populated city in Europe. Today, it is a medium-sized capital where contemporary architecture draws on Córdoba’s traditional typology of courtyard houses and pays homage to its heritage of whitewashed architecture and Andalusi geometry. The city features buildings by internationally acclaimed studios such as Nieto Sobejano and Paredes Pedrosa, alongside works by Mecanoo and the great Cordoban master Rafael de la Hoz. Finally, Córdoba is home to what is probably the most fascinating building of the Iberian Peninsula: the Mosque–Cathedral, a construction that condenses the evolution of an identity and a timeless way of making and thinking about architecture.
GA-ANDALUSIA
We specialize in organizing architectural tours and study trips throughout Andalusia: Seville, Granada, Málaga and Córdoba, but also Jerez and Ronda are part of our area of expertise.
We offer a wide range of ready-to-book tours, but we also love to design tailor-made experiences: meetings with local administrations and professionals, lectures, and thematic visits focusing on topics such as climate adaptation, social housing or sustainability — often combined with gastronomic experiences in architecturally interesting settings.
Our tours are conducted in Spanish, German and English.
