Tour in Cordoba:
Urban Evolution and Contemporary Architecture in Córdoba

Córdoba is a city with a rich historical legacy, both from the Roman period and from its time as the capital of the Umayyad Caliphate during the first two centuries of Al-Andalus.

Today it looks toward the future without losing its identity, maintaining a fruitful dialogue with this past. Córdoba’s architecture is deeply connected to the valley and the river, and is characterised by its mastery of light—filtered through patios, screens and shadow systems.

In Córdoba we can find remarkable examples of contemporary architecture in which these traditional elements evolve and are reinterpreted by leading architects such as Nieto Sobejano, Paredes Pedrosa, the Dutch studio Mecanoo, or the great 20th-century Cordovan master Rafael de la Hoz.
