Over the past decade, Aarhus has experienced rapid growth, driving the creation of new neighbourhoods to house its expanding population. One of the most notable is Aarhus Ø(Aarhus Island) a former industrial port transformed into a modern residential district.

From the beginning, the focus has been on creating life at street level. To achieve this, the city collaborated with the renowned urban planner Jan Gehl, known for his work on public spaces worldwide, along with local partners. Together, they have shaped a vibrant harbourfront that prioritises the spaces between buildings - the everyday settings where people meet, move, and interact.

The architecture itself is equally ambitious. Leading offices such as BIG, Sleth, CEBRA, and JDS have all contributed to the area’s distinctive skyline.
