Tour in Santiago de Chile:
Architecture and Urban Landscapes of East Santiago

During this tour, we will gradually approach the Andes Mountains, beginning at the UC School of Architecture. From there, we will gain an understanding of Santiago’s modern history and its evolution as reflected in the recent projects that have helped shape the contemporary identity of Chilean architecture.

This sector of Santiago began to consolidate during the 1960s under the garden city model and today includes some of the capital’s most developed districts. We will visit the Benedictine Monastery, a landmark of Chilean modern architecture, together with other contemporary works that engage with the natural landscape through environmentally responsive design strategies, such as the Tánica Building.

The itinerary also includes a visit to Bicentenario Park, home to the iconic Mestizo Restaurant, designed by Smiljan Radić. From this vantage point, we will enjoy panoramic views of the park designed by Teodoro Fernández, with the skyline of Santiago’s financial district as a backdrop. The day will conclude at a nearby viewpoint, offering a broader perspective of the sites visited throughout the tour.
