Tour in Munich:
City Center of Munich & Art District "Kunstareal"

Despite extensive damage during World War II, Munich's city center still largely follows the historical layout of the old town, which was founded in 1158 and marks the origins of the city. The characteristic cityscape has been deliberately preserved, while at the same time the economic boom of recent decades is reflected in numerous new buildings and innovative renovations. Many award-winning projects stand alongside historic landmarks, creating an important dialogue between tradition and contemporary architecture.

The art district “Kunstareal” near the old town offers an exciting addition to the understanding of Munich's urban development. It brings together 16 museums and exhibition halls, many galleries and cultural institutions as well as six universities in the heart of the city.

On our guided architecture tour through the city center and the art district, we present the most important historical and modern buildings, explain Munich's urban development, and explore the dynamic cultural landscape of our city.
