Tour in Granada:
Contemporary Architecture in Granada

Granada is much more than its history — it is also one of the Andalusian cities where visitors can explore a remarkable range of contemporary architecture. Some projects are closely connected to historic sites and highlight sensitive and creative interventions in them. This tour includes exemplary cases of how the wisdom of vernacular architecture can be applied in new ways to modern projects.

Other highly significant contemporary buildings relate to the dynamic activity of Granada University — one of the oldest in the country and responsible for around 25% of the city’s population, including students, teachers and staff — as well as museums and cultural venues.

Here we can admire works by Alberto Campo Baeza, Cruz y Ortiz, Carlos Ferrater, Álvaro Siza, and the most admired local contemporary architect, Antonio Jiménez Torrecillas.
