Bilbao, Logroño and La Rioja, San Sebastian, Vitoria-Gasteiz

Bernd Nitsch arrived in Bilbao in 2004. The first years he has been working at IMB architects on several projects of important public buildings in Bilbao. He also got involved in urban projects that IMB was realizing for Bilbao Ria. In 2006 he was asked to do his first architecture tour and this was the beginning of the still ongoing story of Guiding Architects Bilbao.

Today he is founder and director of GA BILBAO, organizing and offering with his team of selected architects guided architectural tours across Bilbao, the Basque Country and the northern wine areas of Spain.

Tour in Vitoria-Gasteiz:
Green Urban Development in Vitoria-Gasteiz

On a day trip to Vitoria-Gasteiz, we will show you two completely different facets of the city. We will take you on a panoramic bus tour with several stops to see the outskirts of the city with its sprawling new residential developments and the green belt that has been developed as a local recreation area. In the second half of the day, we will visit the city centre with its contemporary interventions in the old town, such as the Archaeological Museum by F. Mangado and the mechanical ramp systems.

In the surrounding new town district, some individual buildings are also worth seeing, such as the Iglesia de Coronacion and Iglesia de los Angeles churches. A day trip to Vitoria-Gasteiz can be taken from Bilbao (travel time approx. 50 minutes), from accommodation in Vitoria-Gasteiz or combined with a multi-day tour of the region.

– Duration: aprox. 10 hours (from Bilbao)
– Transport: Private bus
– Services: Experienced local architect as guide
– Languages: German, English, Spanish, French (in specific cases: Basque, Italian)
– Group size: max. 25pax per guide (with audiosystem until max. 40)
