Santiago Calatrava: Boris Strzelczyk (Thumbnail)
Boris Strzelczyk
Valencia

Boris Strzelczyk was born in southern Germany and, at the age of one, moved with his family to a small coastal town in Spain, where he grew up by the Mediterranean Sea. Boris studied architecture at the ETSAM in Madrid and began his professional training in the field that had always interested him.

He returned in 2006 to his adopted city of Valencia, where he founded GA Valencia. He currently runs his own architecture studio and designs and conducts tours. His interests focus on the culture, sociology, history and urban development that have shaped Valencia into a dynamic city that remains relatively undiscovered by many.

Tour in Valencia:
Santiago Calatrava

If you are interested in contemporary architecture, this tour offers a complete overview of Santiago Calatrava's work in Valencia. Since the 1980s, the architect has used his hometown as a laboratory where architecture, art and engineering converge. The itinerary includes visits to nine of Calatrava's projects that have defined Valencia's recent urban profile and are now part of its visual and tourist identity.

During the experience, we will analyse Calatrava's recurring formal qualities, structural solutions and creative processes, as well as the historical and urban context in which the works were developed. The tour also addresses key issues such as financing, the current use of the buildings, their maintenance and citizen perception over time. A visit designed to understand how this work has helped to build the image of a 21st-century Mediterranean Valencia.
