Tour in Munich:
The Munich Creative Quarter "Kreativquartier"

A vibrant creative quarter is being developed on the 20-hectare site of the former Luitpold Barracks on Dachauer Straße, combining living, working, art, culture, and research. Years of temporary use of the existing buildings from the barracks era by artists and the establishment of Munich University of Applied Sciences have given the area its identity, which is now to be largely preserved.

Key architectural features include the renovated armoury, which has been home to the Munich University of Applied Sciences' design faculty since 2018, and Munich Urban Colab, an innovation centre for urban concepts of the future. The new primary school on Infanteriestraße offers modern learning concepts and plenty of outdoor space for children. In the cultural sphere, the new Schwere Reiter theater building and the ongoing renovation of the Jutierhalle and Tonnenhalle are providing new impetus. In the creative field, a large number of residential projects are being developed—including wooden and wood-hybrid buildings as well as cooperative models—which are making an important contribution to sustainable urban living.

This tour offers insights into sustainable urban development on a former barracks site.
