Tour in Venice:
Venice and its Lagoon

This tour focuses on the special context of Venice: the lagoon. How has the city developed here since its beginnings? What does it mean to live in a lagoon? How does Venice try to deal with the problem of high water?
A two-hour boat trip to the northern opening of the lagoon, where the MOSE high water barriers were built, provides answers to these questions. Departure from the old harbour basin of the Arsenal – arrival on Giudecca island. There you will get an insight into daily Venetian life and visit the Junghans district, where residential buildings were built by Cino Zucchi and Boris Podrecca, among others. The residential complexes by Gino Valle and Pietro Mainardis, Iginio Cappai and Valeriano Pastor deal intensively with the special features of their location and transpose typical Venetian building elements into our time.
