Berta Urgel
Geneva, Lausanne

Berta Urgel was born in Spain and, after earning her degree in Architecture, lived in several cities, including Florence, Barcelona, and Amsterdam. Since 2010, she has been based in Lausanne, where she has contributed to various Swiss architectural firms such as Architram SA and Itten Brechbühl. Driven by her passion for architecture and travel, she founded a-tours lakegeneva in 2022. Currently, she is pursuing a MAS in Heritage Conservation at the University of Geneva while working as an architect for the Chemins de fer fédéraux suisses (CFF).

International Geneva – 100 years of architecture

Geneva, a global center for diplomacy, hosts numerous international organizations such as the United Nations, the Red Cross ans the World Health Organization. Since the 1920s, their facilities have transformed the city with support from authorities. The Sécheron district, once an industrial complex, has evolved into a modern business zone with prestigious buildings.

The new Cité Internationale du Grand Morillon district, located in the heart of the Jardin des Nations, includes a residence for 700 students of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID), designed by Kengo Kuma, as well as the headquarters of Médecins Sans Frontières, designed by Sauerbruch Hutton.
