Tour in Turin:
Jaretti&Luzi in Turin

Sergio Jaretti Sodano (1928–2017) and Elio Luzi (1927–2006), still relatively understudied figures in twentieth-century Italian architecture, collaborated for more than two decades, developing a broad residential output including villas, palazzos, multi-story buildings, and towers. Rejecting codified solutions, they embraced experimentation, supported by their close partnership with Bartolomeo Manolino’s construction company. Their strong interest in construction led them to explore materials and techniques, from artificial stone in the 1950s to inventive uses of the “paramano” brick on 1960s facades. Casa dell’Obelisco (1954–59) in Turin marks their departure from the international style, merging historical references, typological research, and technological reinterpretation, themes further developed in the Piazza Statuto house (1958–59). The 1960s were particularly productive, with works in Via Saluzzo, Corso Orbassano, Via Curtatone, Piazza Rebaudengo, the paired villas in Via Borgofranco (1963–66), and the Pitagora towers, which articulate volume by dismantling the flat facade. The tour starts at Casa dell’Obelisco and ends at Casa Luzi.
