Tour in Turin:
From Brownfields to Greenfields

With Vittorio Gregotti’s 1995 Masterplan, Turin became a laboratory for the reconstruction of post-industrial heritage. The city has undergone multiple transformations that continue to reshape its urban fabric. This itinerary explores key sites of the new Turin. Beginning at Lingotto, redesigned with the Pinacoteca Agnelli by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, the route highlights major examples of industrial reuse. It continues south to the renovated National Automobile Museum (Cino Zucchi, 2011). Following the new south-north axis, the Central Backbone, the tour reaches major regeneration areas such as the halls for the maintenance of trains, transformed into a cultural center for performing arts, the Intesa Sanpaolo tower (Renzo Piano Building Workshop, 2016), the new high speed train station (Arep and Silvio D’Ascia, 2012) and concludes at the biggest area of transformation in Turin, 1.000.000 sqm of former industrial areas in the north with Parco Dora by Latz+Partner (2011), the Holy Face Church by Mario Botta (2006) and Environment Park by Emilio Ambasz (2005).
