Tour in Paris:
Modernism in Paris: Le Corbusier

Paris was one of the cradles of the modern architecture movement in the first half of the 20th century.
Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret conceived the houses LaRoche and Jeanneret in 1923-25. We visit the Maison LaRoche which announces Le Corbusier's theory of the five points of modern architecture. We also see the apartment-studio on rue Nungesser et Coli, Le Corbusier's home from 1934 until his death.

The Swiss foundation constitutes the first modern house built at La Cité internationale universitaire de Paris, serving as the prototype for future Cités radieuses. The Brazilian house, inaugurated in 1959, is the result of a collaboration of Lucio Costa and Le Corbusier. As an alternative to the Cité internationale university campus, the second half of the tour can include a visit to the Villa Savoye in Poissy, west of Paris (with bus).
