Tour in Barcelona:
Glòries and 22@ Innovation District

A Model of Sustainable Urban Renewal

Explore 22@, Barcelona’s flagship example of urban renewal and sustainable economic regeneration. Once the industrial heart of Poblenou, over 200 hectares have been transformed through public-private partnerships into a hub for technology, education, design, and culture, while carefully preserving its industrial heritage.

The tour also showcases the completed Plaça de les Glòries, a former transport junction now redesigned as a green urban oasis. Its renaturation, water management, and public spaces demonstrate Barcelona’s commitment to livable, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable urban design.

Throughout the district, elements of a Smart City can be observed, from intelligent mobility solutions to innovative infrastructure, highlighting how architecture, urban planning, and policy converge to create a forward-looking city.

This experience provides valuable insights for professionals, academics, and institutions engaged in urban innovation and city transformation.
